There are some good points about personality mentioned here, and we are dealing with people, but in general, how do directors successfully institute a timeliness policy which is good for everyone involved, making the best use of the resources we have, given the limitations under which we are working?

Wimps, IT WASN'T ME!
I only jumped in here to say that I've been sent home from a rehearsal for being 10 seconds late, by one of the major conductors in the professional choral world, to a class which I was paying to attend.
And that I have found that any attempts to force people to be on time are supported by the people on the choir who are more interested in controlling other people than making music, and there can be conflict.
