Organist/Choirmaster (Bangor, Maine)
  • St. John’s Episcopal Church of Bangor, Maine seeks a skilled organist/choirmaster of enthusiasm and skill to be a community music builder, further developing our strong Anglican-based program in service to our worship and our community outreach. Our experienced choir offers weekly Choral Eucharists and Monthly Evensongs during the academic year, loves to learn, and will welcome new repertoire. Outreach includes RSCM training to children through the school year and, currently, a one-week Choir School in August for children from our parish and community. We have both offered and hosted concerts in our beautiful, historic, and resonant Hobart Upjohn worship space. Instruments include a two-manual 1971 Berkshire organ (restored 1996), a Mason & Hamlin grand piano, and two octaves of handbells. Our state is beautiful, our city historic, our congregation vibrant, and our music program positioned to grow. This position will bring great rewards.
