    JOB DETAILS

    The Archdiocese of Philadelphia is currently seeking a Director of Liturgical Music. The duties of this position will be administered though its Office for Worship.

    A terminal degree in music and knowledge and understanding of Sacred Liturgy and liturgical music is required. Must have strong knowledge of Church's patrimony of liturgical music, traditional and contemporary music. Must be familiar with liturgical books and documents in regard to liturgical music. Duties include: Selecting, planning, and preparing liturgical music for all Archdiocesan and Cathedral Basilica celebrations; providing the formation and leadership of all choirs for the Archdiocese and Cathedral Basilica celebrations; providing formation of cantors and psalmists; providing guidance for all guest liturgical musicians; coordinating and hiring additional musicians when needed; moderating the maintenance of instruments of Cathedral Basilica; directing Cathedral Basilica choir;, conducting concerts; serving as principal musical consultant; serving as member the archdiocesan Commission for Sacred Liturgy; preparing an annual comprehensive budget, and overseeing liturgical music archives and library.
