An EF Missa Cantata will be offered by Fr. Andrew Wickersham at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Oklahoma City on Pentecost Sunday at 3:30 PM. Two young children will receive their First Holy Communion. A tiny schola will be singing the Ordinary and Propers of the Mass as well as the Pentecost Sequence, and organ accompaniment provided by a very humble organist (yours truly). As far as I know, this is the first Missa Cantata in the EF offered in this church since it was built.
Please pray for us, that we sing well. This came to me as a last minute request and we will only have one rehearsal. If anyone in Oklahoma or Texas or Kansas or anywhere would like to join us and help out, you're welcome!
Wouldn't be wonderful if the CMAA organized a "SWAT Schola" to deploy to locations in urgent need? We could equip them with black parachutes (or better, black helicopters) to go with the tatoos of Kyrie XI on their right arms.....
Rehearsal last night went quite well----three men (including yours truly) are singing. We're all involved at the local FSSP parish, and this is a favor to a diocesan priest offering an EF Mass at another parish. This rehearsal might have been the beginning of a new men's schola cantorum. Please keep us in your prayers.
