I have a copy of the St. Gregory Hymnal and Catholic Choir Book (abridged edition). No. 154 is "Ecce Sacerdos" by a composer simply identified as "Stadler". Couldn't find him or an alternate copy of this composition on CPDL. How is one to perform this? This is what I surmised, but I'm not sure if I'm correct:
1. sing to "super caput ejus"
2. repeat from "ideo" up to "suam" and then skip to "Gloria"
3. after "crescere in plebem suam" may repeat "Ecce" again, but up to where? If I end on mm17, that's the Dominant and the song doesn't sound finished.
Finally, is it proper to sing this for an Auxiliary Bishop at Confirmation, or only for the Archbishop?
Thanks!
Discovered that GIA has an arrangement of this by Carroll Thomas Andrews, so ordered it from them. Hopefully it's more clearly laid out than the St. Gregory Hymnal!
