    I have to say, in terms of the strength of their arguments, the pastor comes off pretty well in this sketch.

    Yes, this does outline a rather ideal situation...pastor firmly in place with awareness to assist in guiding the music director.

    So many volatile situations would seem to be where one or both are not secure in their knowledge.

    The last pastor I served was wise and when liturgical issues went beyond his ken did not flounder but sought guidance from other clergy.
