Conservative Monasteries That Support Chant & Polyphony
  • Does anyone know of any conservative and traditional Catholic, Anglican Use or Anglican Monasteries (primarily in the USA), that support plainsong chant and polyphony? I only know of Clear Creek Monastery in OK. I don't think St. Meinrad would qualify as a traditional conservative monastery but I might be incorrect about that. Of course I know of Solemes and Fontgombault in France. Isn't there also one in Germany that the Pope favors as well? A listing with web link would be great!

  • There is at least one Anglican Benedictine house that might interest you: St Gregory's Abbey in Three Rivers, Michigan. They did, at one time at least, sing the entire mass and office in Latin, and, may yet do so. They are/were very good friends with a Catholic Benedictine house not a great, great distance away.
