Gregorian modes and Greek tones

I know there are eight Gregorian modes and eight ecclesiastical Greek tones. Is there any correspondence between them?

I know that the modes are each dorian, phyrgian, lydian, or mixolydian, which are Greek words, but I don't know actually how our tones are described. I haven't studied Byzantine music in the same way I have studied Gregorian chant.

I was just wondering if any of y'all knew.

Here is a basic explanation of the modes.

I am not positive, but I thought the only difference is simply the way they are categorized in each system but in theory they are one in the same. Anyone else?
