I can't say this was on my bingo card today. At least it's a nice font!

(I'm mildly irked though: there is no æ ligature with an accent mark.)

It’s in Unicode 01FD. Should not be hard to ask him to implement lol.

Wow this is pretty complete except for that pesky problem (which would not be that hard to fix). I’d also add the narrow no break space as it’s useful for French and liturgical typesetting which often uses French guillemets.
  • If the Holy See is getting into font design, maybe we can get them to petition the Unicode Consortium to add the "A/" (antiphon) glyph to Unicode, the same way ℟ and ℣ were?

    Do it!

Also if you use LaTeX this is a more than adequate solution for the accented æ problem. You may have to adjust the formatting here but it works.

Will this become the font of every blessing?

Unicode 769 is "COMBINING ACUTE ACCENT". So you can write an œ with accute accent in TeX as œ\char769

It's a good transitional/realist font, evoking Charis with a slight vertical stretch. I like it. The lack of ǽ is a shame, even though there are workarounds.

Upon downloading it, the EULA does not seem to restrict its commercial usage, does anyone else have other information? I would not like to have both Microsoft and the Holy See come after me when I use it in books.

They cannot hold you to terms that were not in the EULA you downloaded and installed. If there is no provision restricting commercial use, I would read that as fair game.

Furthermore, when you search the font and the https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/typography/font-list/michelangelus pops up, it has a link to this FAQ page: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/typography/fonts/font-faq

    which explicitly states:
Can I sell things I print from Windows or make using these printouts, say a book, logo, advertisement, report, t-shirt, or crafts that use fonts that come with Windows?

Unless you are using an application that is specifically licensed for home, student, or non-commercial use, we do not restrict you from selling the things you print and make using the Windows-supplied fonts.

The dedicated Michaelangelus page specifically says in a footnote that they designed the typeface and licensed it to (to be distributed by) Microsoft. That means Microsoft's terms apply.

It seems you're in the clear.
