Looking for suggestions to challenge my newly formed 6th-8th grade auditioned Schola. We meet for 30 minutes, Mon-Fri, before school. We've only had three rehearsals, but they already have a lovely sound and are capable of singing a major scale in (two-part) canon quite well.
I'm introducing them to the Severac Salve Regina tomorrow and soliciting suggestions for 2- or 3-part sacred repertoire that they can prepare for special Masses later in the year. The Salve seems like the perfect semi-challenging unison piece to really develop their choral tone and legato phrasing, but I'm certain they will eat up a good SA/SSA challenge.
