St. John Neumann Catholic School has a job opening for a music teacher, grades 1-8. The church is home to a conservative Roman Catholic music program...all Masses have been gradually moving to a chant Ordinary in Latin. The organ is the main instrument in the church, aside from occasional strings and brass. School Masses have used guitars and piano, however, the new Sanctuary is located a stone's throw from the school rather than a couple of miles, so the school music program is expected to assume the a role of feeding singers to the adult choirs with an ability to read music and appreciate liturgy.
This church has been host to the weekly TLM community Mass.
This would be an excellent position for someone knowledgeable in Liturgy and working with children's choirs. The current teacher is Episcopalian and has done an excellent job for someone not of the Catholic faith. This teacher is also strong in Drama and will be missed. The ability to continue on the Drama program would be a plus.

I am the Music Director at the Parish. There are no openings for an organist or choir director at the parish, just this school teaching position.
As stated before there are organ, choral and director of music positions open as well here in town. This diocese has a stronger than average interest in the improvement of music.
This parish is finishing a new church, and the school music program is to fall into line with the liturgical music program of the church, where choral music is very important. The organ is the only instrument used in the church, and it is very rare that a hymn written after 1950 is sung. The entire parish sings the Sanctus and Agnus Dei, the choir has a big library from CPDL supplemented by The Oxford Easy Anthem Book. There are string players within the church.
During Holy Week that choir sang an Adoramus Te by Lotti, Miserere in Chant, Miserere by Viadana, Ubi Caritas arr. Durufle, I Saw A New Heaven by Malcolm Archer, backed up a Mezzo (Mary Weaver, also subscriber to this list) singing O Divine Redeemer by Gounod....we finished off the Easter Vigil Mass singing the Hallelujah Chorus just for fun.
The small children's choir reads Chant Notation, knows the hand method of displaying solfeggio pitches and is comfortable in english and latin.
We want to grow this program and create a feeder program. Last year the confirmation class started a petition to move Confimation from the remaining Sunday 6PM guitar mass to a mass with the choir and organ singing chant.
And the good news is that an educator who also has a strong church music background...and is an organist....has accepted the position and relocated from a western US state for the job.
