For those in the Portland area:

    Greetings from St. Mark's!

We are delighted to welcome you back to St. Mark’s for a service of Choral Evensong sung by Cantores in Ecclesia during the 27th Annual William Byrd Festival - Pillars of the Renaissance.

Please join us on Sunday, August 9th at 4:30 pm for this special choral presentation featuring the Great Service by William Byrd under the artistic direction of England’s Mark Williams. The Great Service is a highly elaborate musical setting of English liturgical canticles and service items for Matins, Communion, and Evensong. Composed between 1597 and 1604, it is the largest and final of Byrd’s settings for the Anglican Church, scored for two independent five-part choirs. This style is classified as a ‘great’ or ‘full’ service, prioritizing complex, multi-voice polyphony over simple text declamation. Our century-old Anglican sanctuary is the perfect setting for this special Evensong service sung by the outstanding musicians of Cantores in Ecclesia. You won’t want to miss it.

See the entire schedule for the celebrated William Byrd Festival (July 31 through August 16, 2026) below. There is NO CHARGE for the choral services held throughout the Festival, however a collection plate will be passed for a free-will offering to show your appreciation for the choir and to the church for the preservation of our beautiful building.

We look forward to welcoming you back to The Anglican Parish of St. Mark. 1025 NW 21st at Marshall St.

  • Yes, be certain to look at the pdf of the full Festival Calendar. Of the many events held at Holy Rosary, both the church and Aquinas Hall have air conditioning.
