Does anyone have any old SATB settings of the Mass in English from before the 2010 revision sitting around in their choir room? I'm thinking specifically of things like Proulx's Community Mass or his arrangement of Schubert's German Mass (with Gloria), Gloria from Congregational Mass (Lee), etc.
I'm currently playing at an Episcopal church in the Anglo-Catholic tradition and am finding the service music in the Hymnal 1982 to be lacking in terms of choral harmony. The choral octavos currently available from the publishers all seem to have been adapted for the new translation, which wouldn't match our hymnal or the BCP.
If you do happen to have some old scores lying fallow, we might be able to take some of them off your hands four our small choir of 12.
We have some Deutsche Messen and suspect you're near our neighborhood in the Bay Area. Ann Callaway has written a couple of Lutheran Services which use the old texts too.
The British composer Alan Wilson wrote several mass settings that were based on the older English translation (the Gloria reads "peace to His people on earth"). Several years ago, I had sung his "Mass of All Saints" in our local parish choir. The choir part is exteremely simple. The same cannot be said about the organ part, though. Wilson has frequently given workshops in the diocese of Essen, Germany, and some of his works are still quite popular in Germany.
You will find some of these if you get the original version of Worship. There are several similarities. Good luck. My Episcopal group prefers unison for these
