During this project I have become increasingly aware that some hymns are what I would call motets, though that may be a poor choice of words to describe what I am trying to say.
There are so many hymns that lend themselves to be sung by choirs or a small schola with great effect and impact on the people.
Hymns are not just for the people's active participation...with tongue in cheek.
Just think of all those great German chorales harmonized by Bach, or Johann Crueger, unfortunately found more often in an Anglican Hymnal than a Catholic.
