    In the Philippines, this national holiday known as Black Saturday commemorates Jesus Christ's passing. It's a day of reflection and mourning, observed by many through traditional practices like lighting fires and candles to symbolize Christ's passing.


    But it has kind of been eclipsed by some Australian fires:

    The 2009 Black Saturday bushfires in Victoria caused widespread devastation and the greatest loss of life from fire since colonization.
