    I recall reading in this forum recently (but now cannot find) a member’s brief background to the discussisons leading to the creation of the Graduale Simplex. These preceded the publication of Sacrosanctum Concilium.

    I would be grateful if anyone could point me in the direction of sources of the discussions… Bugnini’s memoirs aren’t especially helpful!

    Eckhard Jaschinski's Musica sacra oder Musik im Gottesdienst? (Regensburg, Verlag Friedrich Pustet, 1990) gives some information about the genesis of the Graduale Simplex.

    But I'm sure Paul Ford might have some other valuable references.
