Does anyone know if there was an online broadcast of the Pope’s funeral that didn’t have all the annoying commentary and spoken translation over everything? I was looking forward to being able to actually be able to sit across the world with the worship aid and follow along and even be able to quietly sing the chants, but couldn’t because of all the talking.
You mean this one, Chonak? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EEM7a3mHMR4 It is still streaming and you can watch back the last 12 hours. Generally this seems to be just a webcam, but starting at 9:30 local time = 7:30 UTC it contains the official livestream of the funeral, with the Mass starting 40 minutes later. There is a bit of commentary, but luckily not through the singing. Of course that is not like following it real-time, but better than nothing!
All of these Masses have a Vatican stream. The stream was set up as the usual webcam-style stream which switched to the cameras for the Mass, and then they had a separate Mass-only stream on YouTube.
There will be several events to watch: the cardinals processing into the Sistine Chapel; the new pope addressing the faithful; and the inaugural mass... all much better without inanities.
