I received word from a friend in Seattle that John Kriebel died recently. I do not have an obituary or date of death, but his biography at GIA is extensive. https://giamusic.com/artists/john-kriebel
Hello - I am the music director at St Clement’s Episcopal - where John was the Organist until his passing. John passed on Thursday morning, March 6th, with early signs pointing toward an apparent heart attack. I have not seen an obituary yet and am not sure of service times. If I receive any information, I will post it here for you.
On February 21st, the St Clement's Music Department will be offering a concert featuring the music of John Kriebel, former organmaster of St Clement's Episcopal from 2015 to 2025.
In addition to being a passionate liturgical organist, John was a very lyrical composer, writing choral music for the St Clement's choir. Throughout the years, the music library grew, and John published numerous organ works to supplement preludes & postludes.
Up until his passing on March 6th, 2025, John was an essential member of the parish and music department, and an advocate for St Clement's updating the existing Reuter organ.
This service will feature numerous choral anthems from across the liturgical year, as well as an organ composition titled "Variables on Stabat Mater".
All proceeds from this concert will go toward the St Clement's Organ Fund, which will be used for a new organ installation in 2026-27.
Please join us as we recognize a wonderful musician and help us create a legacy of his music.
Date: Saturday, February 21st, 2026 Time: 4:00pm Freewill offering
