We are working on the Propers for the Assumption, and the text of the Communion Antiphon (Beatam me dicent) in Richard Rice's "Communio" has alternate text for certain verses. Are these alternate Latin versions, and which would be more appropriate to use?
The neo-vulgate version "salvatore meo" etc. would be more appropriate, but if you are working in the EF there may be a preference for the vulgate version. I can't see anything wrong with sticking with the nova vulgata even in the EF, unless it would seriously offend the sensibilities of the community.
We are working in the EF, but I seriously doubt anyone would even be aware. I could be wrong, though; it's been known to happen!
I'm curious why this would be an issue, though. The Greek is fairly straightforward. I honestly have no clue: is there a great controversy about which Latin translation to use, especially in the EF?
