I have a copy of the St. John Brebeuf hymnal (pew book) as well as the Choral Supplement, and I'm trying to figure out how this works for a parish choir. Does the choir have to use the Choral Supplement in order to sing in parts? I thought this book was for the organist (each verse written out separately) but online I see that there is also a spiral bound accompaniment book. If a choir uses the Choral Supplement for SATB parts, they also need the pew book for unison hymns. What am I missing here...?
The Choral supplement is for SATB singing while the pew edition is both for congregation and unison hymns so yes you are correct! The accompaniment version is for organists who need to sing and play at the same time but obviously it could be used to simply accompany.
