    Epiphany Catholic Church in South Miami is seeking a Full-time Organist / Associate Music Director. This position is available immediately on an interim basis, with the permanent role to begin May/June 2025. The candidate should have a thorough knowledge of traditional Roman Catholic liturgy and music: Gregorian chant, traditional hymnody, Renaissance polyphony, and Latin choral motets from the Baroque to late 19th century form the bulk of the current repertoire of the church. Excellent performance ability of standard organ works, sightreading, transposing, arranging orchestral/piano reductions for organ, accompanying, playing open score, and improvising are essential. The choral music program currently consists of a semi-professional adult choir, a children’s choir, and a Spanish choir. Our 3 manual, 61-rank Ruffatti pipe organ is extremely versatile and handles all periods of literature well, in a magnificent acoustic.

    Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Accompanying and rehearsing with choirs and chamber orchestra.
    • Playing all weekly Masses, weddings, funerals, special liturgies.
    • Collaborating with the music director/choirmaster on planning music for liturgies and the concert series.
    • Arranging music for choirs and orchestra/brass ensemble when needed
    • Overseeing the maintenance of the organ.
    • Serving as Artistic Director of the Miami International Organ Competition, established in 2004 and held triennially.

    Qualifications:
    • Master’s degree in Organ or equivalent experience.
    • Strong background in Catholic music and knowledge of the church’s principles for music in the liturgy as found within Tra le Sollecitudini, Sacrosanctum Concilium, and Musicam Sacram.
    • Ability to make arrangements using music notation software such as Finale, Sibelius, etc
    • Some knowledge of pipe organ maintenance and tuning.
    • Familiarity with graphic design, marketing, fundraising.
    • Practicing Catholic who adheres to the Church’s teachings on faith and morals.
    • Must be reliable, dependable and have a professional demeanor.
