Next Ember Saturday - fasting and abstinence, or not?

    I'm unsure of this, as next Ember Saturday falls on the feast of St Matthew (in the 1962 calendar). Which supersedes which? Will it be fasting or feasting? :)

    The feast doesn’t remove the quality of fasting or abstinence. In fact for many centuries only Christmas day removed abstinence by way of an exception in the laws of fasting and abstinence.

    Of course, it’s not obligatory anyway.
