Even a beloved hymn needs a new melody.

Calling it an "Amusement" does not necessarily make it funny.

This is oddly the only place where I’ve seen this, or posted it myself, where people who didn’t find it funny decided to spoil the fun — which is a prickly subject because very Reddit-like, people here have a tendency to joke and not exactly at the most appropriate moments. But all I get is the grouches.

I saw it last week on FB, and thought it was hysterical. I sang it for a couple of choir members, and they too thought it was hysterical.

This is essentially the same as that posted here by Adam Wood on March 29. It got a lot of groans then, too.

yes, well, I didn't see that, but even if I did — people are grumpy, apparently!

At least I made mine look like a hymnal.
It’s the details that sell stupid jokes.

Well I saw that post on March 29th and the joke is on me!

I glanced at Adam's post and thought it was just a harmonization of the hymn so I moved on. This time I was pretty sure it was a joke so I printed it out and went to the piano and plunked out the tune since I am not capable of looking at a tune and hearing it in my head.

So, Matt thanks for the second chance at the amusement.

It is funny and about as bad as "Now the Green Blade Rises" to the tune of "Sing We Now of Christmas."

I would groan, but I don't want to be a grinch.
