Selecting verses for the communio unspecified in Graduale Romanum 1974
  • For the feast of St. Luke, GR 1974 prescribes that Vos qui secúti estis me be sung, with psalm 30; without specifying which verses are to be sung.

Are you free to select which verses to sing yourself in this case? I saw that another communio (Petite, et accipiétis) uses psalm 30 with verses 2-6, 8 and 25. Is it recommended that the same verses be selected in this case?

I'm sorry if something similar has been asked before, I wasn't able to find it.

You should refer to the 1987 Ordo Cantus Missæ, n. 396. There, it becomes clear that the verses to be sung are:

    Psalm 30, 2.3ab.3cd.4.5.6.8ab.15-16a.25

OCM actually refers to n. 396 at the listing of chants for October 15. It's a puzzle to me why they are not just printed in the Graduale Romanum.
