Any hymns in English (not Latin, although translated hymns are fine) that could be sung for St. Francis of Assisi, that is NOT Canticle of Creation, or Make me a channel of your peace?
I'd like to draw attention to some other aspects of Francis - maybe love of the Cross, or his Eucharistic-Marian piety.....
Since I have the new Divine Office Hymnal, I looked in it. For the Memorial of St. Francis of Assisi, it has an English hymn: "With Radiant Glory Francis Shines".
There are actually quite a few hymns to St. Francis of Assisi. I am attaching six of them that I have scanned for you. The first comes from Tozer's Catholic Church Hymnal, 1905. The remaining five are from a more obscure hymnal: St. Francis Hymnal, published by the Franciscan Sisters of the Atonement at Graymoor, Garrison, NY. This excellent hymnal consists of 679 pages and was published by the Sisters in 1925. I hope you find something useful among these hymns! (Since it was on the same scan of the last hymn, there is a hymn to St. John the Baptist also included. His feast day is a long way off now, but maybe it can be used in Advent).
I have metrical translations of the Dominican Hymns, I don't think I have seen Translations of the Franciscan hymns. Although we have talented people here that may be interested.
