OLV seeks a part time teacher whose love of music is matched by their love of teaching and a desire to help inspire and form students and serve their families in forming life-long disciples of Christ.
Choir and Music at Chesterton Academy are required courses for all students and for all four years of high school at Our Lady of Victory. These courses are designed to introduce young men and women to the rich musical tradition of the Catholic Church, and the proper place of the musical arts in history and society. The Music Teacher will teach each grade level for one period per week. The Choir Director would teach and direct the all school choir (~76 students) for two class periods during the week, as well as performance responsibilities three to four times throughout the year.
The Music and Choir teacher has the primary authority to choose materials for school choir performance events and exercise artistic direction over those events with the approval of the school’s Headmaster to ensure that the Music Department is pursuing the vision of the school.
The ideal candidate will have a strong sense of the connections between fine arts, and the humanities, as well as a passion for inspiring wonder and excellence in students who study music. A candidate should possess extensive knowledge and training in Music, and demonstrate experience in choral directing and performance. Candidates must possess excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills, and a track record of contributing to the vision and mission of an apostolic and educational enterprise.
The candidate must be a practicing Catholic and willing to take the Oath of Fidelity to the Magisterium. Exceptional candidates who are transitioning from other careers, or recent college graduates will also be considered. A bachelor’s degree or higher, and teaching experience or training in classical/liberal arts schools is preferred.
The position is part-time, beginning July 1, 2023, with a competitive salary based on experience. Depending on the candidate’s experience, and the school's needs, full-time employment may be an option if a candidate can teach additional courses within the Chesterton curriculum, or take on additional responsibilities.
Interested candidates should submit a cover letter, resume and references to Headmaster, Alex Crane, at office@ourladyofvictorydenver.com. More information about the school and curriculum can be found on our website at www.ourladyofvictorydenver.com.
