We have had a number of discussions that have asked for translations of hymns. To provide a one stop resource of translators or books of translations we could list our resources. I will give a direct link to the index of each book below,
I consult both of these pretty often. Esp. the Latin hymns blog, since translations of the newer LotH hymns are hard to come by if you aren't paying for the Universalis app.
Samuel Weber's Hymnal for the Hours is easily available online but I don't know its copyright status. It's just about the only easily accessible source for most of the Ryde Abbey translations.
Forum member Fr Thomas Buffer's Ubi Claritas is great. It has Lauds, Vespers and some Matins hymns per the 4-week psalter, as well as a handful of hymns from the sanctorale.
Of course, The Divine Office Hymnal, by the USCCB, has English translations approved and confirmed for use in the USA. It incorporates ICEL's new Liturgy of the Hours hymn translations and others (under copyright): https://giamusic.com/store/the-divine-office-hymnal.
I fully endorse the new Divine Office Hymnal. While many have an issue with the translation, I find that it is more faithful to the Latin, and actually makes you ponder the aspects of each of the hymns. They each have a different character, and the nuances of the hymns are beautiful!
Been praying with it daily for most of the last year. Also, has some wonderful "new" tunes in the metrical versions of each of the hymns.
Does anyone know where I could locate an English translation (metrical) of Salve, Mater Misericordiae? I checked some of the above-listed sources but could not locate it. The first two verses are in the St. Pius X Hymnal #85. I'm looking for verses 3 to 6. Thanks!
