Oh, how I envy all of you who get to worship in such beautiful and lofty spaces…

I was able to find a couple from the Easter vigil:

  • You have people taking photos DURING services? How ... interesting.

The pictures were taken by the office assistant and were posted on the OLGCFB Facebook page. Ours is a small not particularly rich rural parish.

I can't see how that differs much from having someone video the mass for Youtube.
  • Pax, David,

Would it matter if the pictures were taken not by a moving person and his camera but by a camera without a person attached to it -- a video, or a still camera timed to take pictures at intervals?

    Thanks for asking, Chris.

Honestly the lady taking the pics had a small digital camera without a flash and was very unobtrusive and respectful during the ceremonies.
  • David,

I've just caught the name of your parish. You're in northern California, are you, rather than at a huge military base in North Carolina?

Yes, Chris, we are in California, not North Carolina...but the towns were named for the same person.
  • I'd rather any pictures were captured by a fixed camera set up beforehand: human attendees should be praying, not playing with their phones.
  • Pax,

I don't find myself (often) in agreement with positions you advocate, but on this one, I'm entirely in accord with you.
