On the eve of a major USCCB meeting, Pope Benedict has appointed a Dominican priest from New York as Secretary (#2) of the CDW. This is not to be confused with the CDF, where he has been #3 up till now.
Intelligent, very broad-minded (he studied at Yale), Fr. DiNoia has been following the bright, correct doctrinal line on all sorts of tough issues, including interreligious relations. I think he'll bring the same clarity to his new post.
And yet the clear signal from the Pope is what sounds loudest to me here. No, we are not going to have an American Liturgy.
As a newcomer to forum, and a non-Catholic, I would appreciate fewer Initials and more typing out of full titles in initial Forum offerings. Thank you :) I know I can look them up somewhere, but it makes for quicker understanding if printed out just the first time.

Well, here is some background information for Archbishop-elect Augustine DiNoia, O.P., STM, as noted above, recently appointed to CDW and who will be titular archbishop of Oregon City.
"As is customary, Fr. DiNoia will be consecrated as an Archbishop, to serve in his role as Secretary of the Congregation. He will be made the titular archbishop of Oregon City. His ordination will be on Saturday, July 11, 2009 (the Memorial of St. Benedict) at 2:00pm at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, DC." from Ordo Praedicatorum
