Holy Savior Parish seeks a music director to direct the parish’s music ministry, prepare the music program, and play the organ at weekend Masses, funerals (75 to 100 per year), weddings, holy days, and other liturgical services as needed. The successful candidate will be a proficient organist, able to train and direct cantors and a choir, be familiar with Catholic liturgy, and possess strong people skills. Parish has a seasonal choir of 25 to 30 volunteers. Organ is a meticulously maintained Rodgers Westminster 890 with 18 ranks of pipes. Parish currently uses Breaking Bread, but is in the process of changing to Source and Summit this upcoming Advent. Pastor is looking to create a traditional music program using chant, Latin, and strong traditional Catholic hymnody. A bachelor’s degree in music is preferred. To apply, send a resume to the attention of the Business Coordinator, Parish of the Holy Savior, 7 Brown Street, Mexico, ME 04257. Interested parties can also email their materials to holysaviorparish@portlanddiocese.org. The parish also has an opening for a full time office manager due to retirement. This could possibly be combined into a single position for the right candidate looking for a full time position in a parish that is experiencing a rebirth.
