Sacred Heart in Manassas, a Suburban parish of over 1,400 families, seeks to employ a full time Director of Liturgical Music. The duties would include working with the Pastor to plan liturgical music for a Saturday Vigil Mass with 2 additional Masses on Sunday. The position would require a strong sense of liturgy both in its history, development and choosing music to match the readings and liturgical seasons. Knowledge of the pre-Vatican II liturgy would be helpful as well. The Music Director should be able to play both organ and piano. They should also possess the ability to work with, recruit, train and direct choir members. Duties also include playing for funerals and weddings and creating funeral programs. Some computer skills are necessary. The candidate should possess at least a bachelor's or master's degree in Music. Salary would be based on previous experience.
