Church Militant is hardly center or left winged. But the reference was to CNA, which is the Catholic New Agency (NOT Catholic News Service) that is part of the EWTN system.

This experience, as I was saying, is heaven on earth, and it is given to us in the liturgy,
    Pope Francis last Friday https://www.vatican.va/content/francesco/en/speeches/2022/february/documents/20220218-plenaria-chiese-orientali.html
As usual PF has a number of asides which make following one thread in the speech difficult, which does suggest this is not just a speech drafted for him. This paragraph near the end might therefor suggest why the clampdown on the EF, but not why he concentrates on the mote in the EF eye and largely ignores the plank in the OF eye.
One can discuss, for example, the possibility of introducing editions of the liturgy in the languages of the countries where their faithful are found, but where the form of the celebration is concerned, it is necessary that unity be experienced in accordance with what has been laid down by the Synods and approved by the Apostolic See, avoiding liturgical particularisms that in reality manifest divisions of another kind within the respective Churches.

  • As if every locality having their own “unified” liturgy is not divisive in the grander scheme of things. *eyeroll*

I shared a link to Dr. Taylor Marshall quoting the catechism and popes on why PF’s comment on people being unable to separate themselves was incorrect. I posted it in that thread, but it seems to have been marked for not being updated in the list of threads.
If you haven’t seen that video, I believe he did an excellent job, and you should go give it a listen.

  • People (recently) who have appealed to unity include characters in Malachi Martin's books.

Unity of posture led to everyone being required to stand.
Unity led to the "Seamless garment".

Unity is a good thing, but in the wrong hands, it is positively toxic to authentic expressions of the Catholic faith.

Leaving the field of Catholic theology for a moment, we live (in the US, so non-Americans may find their experience different) in a time when those who claimed the right to shatter and ignore the definition of marriage which predates the republic NOW claim that we all must respect whatever precedent (notably, Roe) they want to shove down our throats.... and the same cabal which doesn't want to cooperate with moral mandates now wants mask and vaccine mandates.
