St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church, 4410 E Southern Ave, Phoenix AZ 85040, seeks someone to provide organ music and lead congregational singing (English and Latin) for a 9:00 a.m. traditional Latin Low Mass weekly except the first Sunday of the month. St. Edward's is the third apostolate of the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter (FSSP) in the diocese of Phoenix, along with Mater Misericordiae, Phoenix, and St. Cecilia's, Clarksdale. The long-term plan is to build a new, larger church on the property of St. Edward's, at which time Mater Misericordiae and St. Edward's will merge. St. Edward's was recently renovated and there are no hymnals in the pews. The current instrument, a small approximately 40-year-old Allen MDC organ, is functional but in need of replacement. If interested, the new organist would be involved in the acquisition of a newer organ and hymnals, or the preparation of printed programs or bulletin inserts in consultation with the assistant pastor or celebrant. The St. Edward's organist also has the opportunity to play for the 9:30 a.m. Low Mass at Mater Misericordiae on the first Sunday of the month. Compensation is negotiable depending on qualifications, but will be at least $150 per Sunday morning Mass. Please contact Patrick Williams at choir at phoenixlatinmass dot org if interested. Background check and diocesan Safe Environment Training certification are required for all employees, volunteers, and contractors working on a regular basis.
