Responsorial Psalm : Adapted Texts

I could have sworn that the GIRM (2002) stipulated that the RP had to come straight from the lectionary, and that adaptations could not be used. However, I just reviewed the paragraphs concerning the RP and it is a rather confusing section. Please clarify! Which through composed versions are acceptable? Are adaptations allowed?
