    There is a lengthy interview with Scottish composer James MacMillan about his writing of sacred music, particularly that for liturgy, that Forum followers might enjoy. Tenebrae album .

    This composer is no slouch - celebrating his 50th birthday with a Proms concert. The Strathclyde motets on this recording, as well as the Missa Brevis, are lovely. And you may remember him from his acerbic comments on the state of contemporary Catholic music in the United Kingdom.
  • If any of you happen to be in the Boston area this coming January, the Boston Symphony Orchestra will be premiering MacMillan's "St. John Passion." The work was co-commissioned by the BSO and will be conducted by Sir Colin Davis. According to the advertisments, it will be the composer's "largest, most personal" composition to date.
