Our congregations know only a couple of Long Meter tunes, so in an effort to expand the repertoire, I'd like to introduce a few generic (preferably Eucharistic) hymns at Communion. Suggestions either for texts with established tunes or texts alone would be welcome.
I think Jesus My Lord My God My All, is long meter with refrain. There are two different melodies that I know. Also, O Saving Victim. I know a lot of hymns to the Blessed Sacrament and Communion hymns but they are not all Long Meter tunes. edit.--you might want to check Noel Jones recently released Catholic Hymn Book. There are a number of beautiful devotional hymns. https://www.sacredmusiclibrary.com/product-category/hymnals/
“Jesus, my Lord, my God, my All” was introduced to our congregation last Sunday, and it’s the first time I’ve heard people sing a new hymn with such fervour and then come and express their appreciation for its beauty. We used the ‘Sweet Sacrament’ tune. https://media.musicasacra.com/books/hymns/pbeh_jesus_my_lord.pdf
