The Mater Dei Latin Mass Community in Harrisburg, PA seeks a Soprano section leader for mostly pure tone renaissance polyphony, traditional hymnody, and Gregorian Chant. Initially it will just be in the context of a physically distanced quartet singing rep from DuFay to Palestrina to Bruckner, and lots in between! When conditions permit in the future, it will transition to a more typical section leader role for a mixed choir of about 12-16 voices. Qualified candidates will have prior choral experience with 4+ part music, familiarity with Gregorian Chant, a passion for traditional sacred music, leadership aptitude to provide direction and assistance to 2-4 volunteer singers in your voice part, and a desire for ongoing learning and growth. Please see the attached job description for full details. Email music@materdeipa.com to apply.
Position begins in early/mid-September. Compensation during normal operations will be $50/call with two calls per week on average. However, during the distanced quartet phase, there will only be one call per week (Sunday warmup and Mass), so temporary compensation will be $60/Sunday until choir returns to full operation.
