For several years, forum member @oldhymns has been visiting parishes and convents in May to present a program of popular devotional hymns in honor of the Blessed Virgin, most of them from the late 1800s. It's a fairly simple event, usually with a soloist to lead the hymns, a pianist or organist to accompany them, and with @oldhymns introducing each of the ten songs with brief talks about their origins and the recollections they bring to mind locally.
This year it's being offered as a live-streamed presentation from St. Adelaide Church in Peabody, MA, where @olbash will be at the console, and a quartet will lead the hymns. The event will be held Sunday, May 24 at 3 pm Eastern via Facebook video, and you can find information here: https://www.facebook.com/events/2827754077322135/
I watched the Hymn Fest yesterday on Facebook and it was wonderful. It does my soul good to hear those hymns again and I think it was a great success, so many people liked it.
