On Sunday, April 5th, the Phipps Choral Society, in celebration of its 40th season, together with the River City Symphony will present an all Mozart concert featuring the Requiem (Thomas Dahle, conductor), preceded by performances of the Overture to the Marriage of Figaro and the Symphony No. 40 (Mel Olson, conductor). The concert will be at 2:00 p.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church on Third Street, Hudson. Tickets are may be purchased online through the above link or at the door.
A few years ago, the Phipps Choral Society presented the Mozart Requiem with the Carl Czerny piano 4-hands accompaniment, in part to celebrate the recent purchase of a new concert grand piano at the Phipps Center of the Arts. It was a stunning performance. This year's performance of the Süssmayr edition with full orchestra should be even more satisfying. If you are in the Hudson, WI/Twin Cities, Mn area, please consider coming to this concert. I'm in the bass section, and it would be a delight to meet any of you after the concert!
