Parish Musician: Choral Director, Organist and Middle School Music Teacher: full-time, St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church and Academy, Fort Pierce, Florida.
Church responsibilities include serving as organist (Wicks 33 rank) and choir director (18-22 members, 4 of them paid professionals), with optional seasonal choirs (e.g., hand bell, children). As a downtown “mother” congregation, we strive for the highest and best of the Anglican liturgical tradition. We do not require an Episcopalian for the position; however, we are looking for a person with a lively and deep faith commitment to Jesus Christ and a love of the tradition of liturgical worship. The Parish Musician works cooperatively as an occasional resource to our praise band which supports a different service. Proficiency with pipe organ performance, choral directing and designing liturgical service music are required.
Responsibilities at the Academy (PK-8) include teaching choral and general music, mostly to Early Childhood, grades 1 and 2, and middle school students, supporting the chapel program, and coordinating the Christmas and spring programs. The Musician must work collaboratively with music and other faculty in this endowed parochial school transitioning into a college prep program. A music degree is required. Teaching certification or education coursework is beneficial but not required. We believe that good teachers begin with attitude, energy and subject knowledge. We can teach you how to teach.
St. Andrew’s is located on Florida’s east coast, directly on the Indian River, in the beautifully revitalized historic downtown Fort Pierce. This position is full-time with health insurance, pension and other benefits. Salary range is $ 41,000 to $ 46,000.
