    Position Vacancy: Director of Music

    Job Summary
    The Director of Music will oversee the music department consisting of over ten performing choirs (2nd Grade Choir, 3rd & 4th Grade Boys Choir, 3rd & 4th Grade Girls Choir, 5th & 6th Grade Boys Choir, 5th & 6th Grade Girls Choir, Middle School Boys Choir, Middle School Girl’s Choir, Men’s Chorale, Women’s Chorale, Honors Choir) and two Gregorian chant ensembles that perform on a rotational basis for daily Mass, and the curriculum used to instruct the students. All students in the school have choir every day, with the exception of the Pre-kindergarten classes, which have music class twice a week.

    Responsibilities
    • Direct several choirs; assign other choirs and classes to assistant director
    • Play the organ for daily school Mass, Stations of the Cross (Lent), and occasional Evensongs throughout the year or assign organist duties to other staff as needed
    • Oversee two Gregorian Chant ensembles (Men’s Schola & Women’s Schola)
    • Oversee the preparation for annual upper and lower school Christmas and Spring concerts; prepare Honor’s Choir students musically for annual All Soul’s Requiem with the Parish Adult Choir
    • Establish calendar designating when choirs will sing for daily Mass and once per month for the Sunday 9am Mass in coordination with the Parish Music Director; distribute calendar to faculty before the 1st of each month
    • Maintain and oversee the budget for the music department
    • Maintain the choral music and liturgical propers library
    • Create weekly hymn sheets, gospel acclamations (tracts during Lent), and graduals for daily school Mass
    • Create monthly Altar Server/Greeter Calendar for daily school Mass
    • Sponsor and prepare students for the TMEA (Texas Music Educators Association) Middle School and High School Choirs, the TPSMEA (Texas Private School Music Educators Association) Children’s Honors Choir, Solo & Ensemble Competition, and Concert & Sight-Reading Competition, and other competitions as appropriate
    • Ensure that the choral program maintains an active involvement in the community

    Minimum Qualifications
    • Be a practicing Catholic
    • Hold Bachelor’s degree in music with an emphasis in voice, piano, or organ and teaching certificate or credential
    • Preference will be given to candidates who have experience playing the organ

    Instruments
    3-manual, 50 rank Casavant pipe organ and 1-manual, 7 rank Laukhuff organ (chapel)
