Music Director/Organist sought for First Parish Church, Congregational, Manchester-by-the-Sea, MA, ideally beginning September 2019. Salaried, 12-month position, approximately 15 hours/week, $18-24,000/year (depending on experience). Benefits include four weeks vacation, two weeks sick leave, and reimbursement for professional expenses. One choir of 15-19 members, with two paid soloists/section leaders; well-maintained E. & G.G. Hook tracker organ, 2-manual (c. 1862) with baby grand piano in sanctuary and grand piano for rehearsal. Substantial music library with dedicated budget for new acquisitions. Wednesday evening rehearsals (Sept-June), Sunday morning services (year-round), plus evening services on Christmas Eve (2 services), Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday and daytime service on Good Friday (once every four years). Looking for a candidate well-versed in classical sacred choral repertoire (traditional, plus current composers), with skill on both organ and piano and familiarity with liturgical calendar, ready to lead and nurture our beloved choir and music program. Ability to branch out into a variety of music styles is encouraged.
