    The Basilica of St. Josaphat in Milwaukee, Wisconsin is seeking an energetic and talented professional for its Director of Sacred Music. This prestigious and historic Basilica is located in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee and is owned and staffed by the Conventual Franciscan Friars.

    Position is full-time, salaried with benefits. Applicants must have excellent communication/organizational skills, strong knowledge of Roman Catholic Liturgy, and informed understanding of sacred music. The present organ was built by David Broskowski of
    Milwaukee in 2005. It contains 40 ranks of pipes. The instrument contains pipework from the original 46 rank William Schuelke organ (Milwaukee) of 1901, The 23 rank Wicks organ (Highland, IL) of 1969, the Schaefer organ (Slinger, WI) from St. Adalbert’s Church (20th and Becher) as well as new pipes (A.R.Schopp) installed by Dave Broskowski. The reuse of quality existing pipework is smart, practical, economical and in general; good stewardship. The windchests are either newly manufactured by A.R. Schopp’s Sons of Alliance, OH or from the Wicks organ. The action is all “direct electric.” The solid-state relay system is from Peterson Electro Musical Products of Chicago, IL and the console was built by Klann of Waynesboro, VA.

    Position responsible for working with the Basilica Rector in planning music for four weekend Masses; two weekday Masses, weekly school Mass, holy days, special prayer services, Basilica events, and concert series are expected. Position also responsible for developing and directing adult choir, utilizing existing volunteer singers, scheduling cantors. Additional tasks as agreed
    upon.

    Experience preferred working with Church liturgies, choirs and as an accompanist. Music degree preferred; proficiency with keyboard, piano, and organ required. The ideal candidate should possess confident leadership skills and a spirit of cooperation and collaboration. Two days off per week to be designated. Individual must possess strong desire to work with Rector and assist in making Mass faithful, prayerful, and beautiful. Minimum education BA/BM in Music.
