St. Mary’s of the Lake is seeking applicants for the part time position of Director of Sacred Music. Sufficient keyboard accompaniment skills are required. Familiarity and some facility with the entire musical patrimony of the Church is preferred, including, though not limited to, Gregorian Chant and Sacred Polyphony, as well as knowledge of the metrical hymn tradition and its use in Catholic worship. The Director of Sacred Music is expected to accompany the 5:00 pm Saturday Vigil Masses and 11:00 am Sunday morning Masses, Triduum Masses/Services, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day Masses and the principle Mass on other Holy Days of Obligation. Also expected (with appropriate assistance and support of the pastor) is the recruitment and formation/rehearsing of a permanent parish vocal choir and cantor program. This position is part time and yearly compensation will range between $10K and $15K depending upon experience and capabilities of applicants.
