Holy Redeemer Church hires four section leaders for the Holy Redeemer Choir each season. The choral season runs from the weekend after Labor Day to Corpus Christi.

Holy Redeemer searches for professional musicians who are ideally of the Christian faith, with preference given to practicing, faithful Catholics. The section leaders serve as the anchors of the choir: assisting their individual sections in learning their music through excellent sight-reading skills and demonstrating fine choral sound. They are expected to sing any solos that arise throughout the year as well. Equally as important as their musicianship is their ability to become a part of the community: to be a friendly, caring member of the choir family and the entire parish.

The choir strives to deepen the sacredness of the liturgy through its music, offering the rich tradition of the Church’s sacred music heritage through traditional hymnody and descants, Gregorian chant, and motets and Masses by composers such as Tallis, Byrd, Palestrina, Kevin Allen, etc, etc.

The pay is $40/call, which totals approximately $3,000/year. Rehearsals are Wednesday evenings from 7:30pm-9pm (occasionally 8pm-9:30pm), and Masses are Sundays at 10am (9:30am call). Extra liturgies on Christmas and Holy Week; two annual concerts (Christmas and Marian concerts).

The Holy Redeemer section leaders are also offered the opportunity to serve as cantors for the other two Sunday Masses (stipend offered).

Please contact Director of Music, Maria Balducci (maria.balducci@holy-redeemer.org), if you are interested in scheduling an audition in August 2019. Thank you!
