Just want to let you know that we have a location for the 2019 Colloquium. The Basilica of Ss. Peter and Paul in Philadelphia, PA will be hosting us. The dates are July 1-6, 2019. We will be staying at a nearby hotel (walking distance to the Basilica).

    Mark your calendars!!!
  • Great, it's during a time that I can actually go! I'm excited to finally make one, hopefully.

I marked my calendar (mentally) the moment I heard it at the Colloquium. 14 hours is still driving distance!

Ditto. (In fact, Melo and I share the same birth date.)

There would also be another birthday to celebrate the day before.

Made me sad to see the mentions of Melo in this thread. RIP!
  • Yes! I was hoping to see him there...
  • Are these the scholarship forms we are supposed to submit, or are there updated ones?

The article dates from 2016, but there doesn't seem to be anything more recent and the registration form only points to the musicasacra.com website.

Will there be any opportunities for composers to show off new compositions during the Colloquium?

"Will there be any opportunities for composers to show off new compositions during the Colloquium?"

From the Colloquium web page, the section on New Music

    New Music

This year’s breakout schedule includes two days of breakouts with David Hughes, where participants will be able to collaborate with other composers to fine-tune your compositions. Please bring at least 15 copies of the work you plan to use during the session, for participants in the session. The best compositions from the New Music breakout sessions will be used for the New Music Reading session on Friday afternoon. New Music Participants: Please plan to provide digital PDF files from the compositions to David for final printing before the Reading session.

The New Music Reading for this year’s Sacred Music Colloquium is scheduled for Friday, July 5, 2019 at 10:30 am at the Basilica Day Chapel. If you have questions, please contact us at programs@musicasacra.com.
