    Gerard Wegemer, in "Thomas More: A Portrait of Courage" relates that "More also sang in the parish choir. We know this from Roper, who tells us that the Duke of Norfolk visited one Sunday and was astonished that the Lord Chancellor would stoop to act like a mere parish clerk."

    Says something both about Thomas More and the status of choristers in those days.
