Full-time choral music director position for the 1,200 student Charlotte Catholic High School in Charlotte, NC. The vision is one of realizing the Church's intentions regarding musical education of youth in the spirit of Pope Emeritus Benedict, mining the Church's musical patrimony and handing it on to the next generation, including Gregorian chant and sacred polyphony. Basic organ skills are also preferred, but not required, as installation of a small pipe organ is underway in the school chapel. Experience or willingness to assist at both the ordinary and extraordinary forms of the Roman Rite is preferred. Obligations include: teaching five classes (a mix of freshmen, sophomores, honors men, honors women, and mixed honors); preparing and leading music for monthly all-school Masses and other liturgical events in collaboration with the chaplain; assisting in the school musical; and occasionally participating in choral trips. Minimum education required is a Bachelors degree in music. One-year contract offered annually. Experience is preferred, but not required. Salary follows a pay scale commensurate with experience and education.
