St. Pius X Church is a dynamic parish in White Bear Lake, MN with 1200 families. Each weekend liturgy at St. Pius X has its own unique atmosphere ranging from contemporary to conservative. St. Pius parish is a growing community that, seeks to restore all things to Christ by bringing the healing love of Jesus to all we meet.
This position is for director of the Jubilee Choir, a four part choir which sings regularly at 10:00am Sunday Mass from September thru May.
Qualifications: Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Music or equivalent experience – preferably a degree in choral / vocal music. Familiarity of four part sacred music and knowledge of Catholic hymnody and anthems. Forward thinking individual with energy, a passion for excellence, and the ability to have fun. Display ability to inspire, lead and sustain interest of choir members. Willingness to support the vision of the Church of St. Pius X. Understanding of the theological practices and worship of the Roman Catholic Church. Piano and organ ability is a plus.
Job description Schedule, coordinate and direct four-part adult choir. Select appropriate music for each weekend and Holy day of Obligation Mass in which the choir participates. Attendance at Thursday evening choir rehearsals from September through May. Direct the choir at the 10:00am Sunday Mass from September through May as well as various Feast days and Holy Days of Obligation, including Christmas eve and Christmas day, Holy Week, Saturday of the Easter Vigil, and Easter morning. Occasional attendance at staff meetings and parish and music ministry events. Maintain and update music resources for the choir. Occasionally work with others in the music ministry and be present for combined choir events.
