I played at St Basil's Chapel at Houston's UST this morning, so the music was 'seemple baht nice', and limited to what is available in Worship IV (which provides a paltry grand total of two actual Transfiguration hymns). Helping out were four members of the chapel choir (which is technically on summer recess).

Oh, and I'll pass this on to you all - for yet another astonishingly mindless excuse for a priest not to sing the mass... we had a new priest celebrate this morning. When I asked him if he would be singing the mass he replied rather sturdily: 'no, I won't sing any prayers and things like that - when they are sung people can't understand them'. I thought 'how stupid', but I replied 'Oh! I see'. And (I was pleased to observe) Fr Janovich, who was standing by and always sings everything, cast his eyes to the ceiling.

Christ Whose Glory Fills the Skies is such a marvelous hymn!

I was at home visiting my home parish. The last hymn was "Light for our eyes." It was very sad. It made me thankful for my current parish. Your programs are inspiring.

Went to Solemn High Mass at SPN Oratory Holy Family Church. Nothing but chanted propers and beautiful organ. Beautiful.
